2024 Post Conference Descriptions
IAWRP; working closely with nationally recognized training organizations has made arrangements for several courses to be offered at the conclusion of our annual conference. These programs will start on June 20th following the main conference and conclude on Friday June 21st. The following sessions are being offered with certificates issued by the host training organization:
- Flood Rescue Resource Management (2 day) $450/ student
Focus of the class will be an overview of managing a wide area incident as well as technology that can assist and how to utilize that technology in decision making. Instructors will bring real-life examples of large-scale incident response. Examples of how these processes can be implemented into training scenarios to build knowledge and skills throughout your team. This course will include lecture and hands on scenario
- Water Team Logistics (2 day) $450/ student
Offered by Deployed Logix
This 16-hour mixed lecture/hands-on course will take the participant through different logistical considerations to water rescue teams, boat and motor maintenance, as well as hands on demonstrations of common repairs and preventative maintenance items. We will break down a suggested maintenance schedule, and also focus on the repairs that teams are able to do in the field that can keep your boats and motors running during deployments.
- Advanced Rescue Swimmer Course (2 day) $325/ student
Offered by Wimberley Rescue
We are excited to take this year’s Advanced Swimmer course beyond the basics. This year’s course will be a two day (12 contact hour) event covering both open and swiftwater rescue swimmer techniques. The course focuses on the individual skills needed to be the “Go” rescuer in a safe and aggressive manner. We will introduce simple adjuncts for the swimmer and victim management to rapidly extract survivors and become that vital part of an advanced water rescue team.
**This is NOT an entry level course – Recommended above average swimming abilities and comfort in the water environment.
Required equipment: Water helmet, PFD, water footwear, appropriate thermal protection, Dive/Swim mask, snorkel, and fins.
- SARCOP for Water Operation (2 day) $325/ student
Offered by National Alliance for Public Safety GIS Foundation (NAPSG)
The Search and Rescue Common Operating Platform (SARCOP) is a multiagency platform designed to share information and intelligence throughout all levels of incident response – from the first responder in the field to a decision-maker in the Emergency Operations Center. This two-day course will introduce the water rescue professional to SARCOP, demonstrate proficient field data collection practices, and instruct users on analyzing various data sources to help plan their operation. Users are required to bring a mobile device and laptop.
